Orange Cranberry Biscotti

Just what you need with your coffee or tea! Enjoy these Orange Cranberry Biscotti today!  Especially tasty with a drizzle of white chocolate. So as I’m making my list of Biscotti recipes and checking it twice, I’m going to be snacking on these Orange Cranberry Biscotti. I love biscotti – they are crunchy and are great with coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. Orange and cranberries go perfectly together and note the drizzle of white chocolate (because everything is better with it!).  Keep biscotti on hand for your own enjoyment or invite a friend over to sit and relax during these busy times. 19. Gingerbread White Chocolate Biscotti

Gingerbread White Chocolate Biscotti

Your holidays need to include gingerbread white chocolate Biscotti! My first encounter with gingerbread biscotti was many years ago — it was the Christmas season and I was at Starbucks. The Starbucks biscotti had a delicious icing on them.  I wasn’t sure how the icing was made. I just knew it was  . . . perfect! And, honestly, I didn’t spend too much time thinking about how the biscotti were made. They were delicious dunked into my cafe Americano. Adding white chocolate chips to the dough and drizzling the biscotti with melted white chocolate made all the difference. I still don’t know how Starbucks makes their gingerbread biscotti. All I know is that I ended up with biscotti just as delicious as (if not more than) the Starbucks biscotti.

18. Cherry Almond Biscotti

Cherry Almond Biscotti

This easy Cherry Almond Biscotti is delightful dunked in coffee or enjoyed on its own. Sweet maraschino cherries and salty almonds liven up this classic Italian cookie. Translated from Italian to English, “Biscotti” means twice-cooked or twice-baked. And since these easy biscotti recipes are ultra-crunchy from their two shifts in the oven, they’re pretty much foolproof. These typical sundae-toppers and Shirley Temple stars add a little more moisture to the batter than a classic biscotti might include. To combat this and ensure the quintessential biscotti crunch, drain the cherries well and press out as much liquid as possible before folding them in.

17. Orange Apricot Biscotti

Orange Apricot Biscotti

Like little orange jewels, dried apricots have such a distinct flavor ; they add a little chewiness to the crisp Orange Apricot Biscotti. And, they are very pretty too! I have never been a fan of apricots – fresh or dried! My mom and my dad would eat dried apricots like they were candy. I remember them both making dried apricot jam, and of course, I remember dried apricots being the star of many cakes, biscuits, and cookies. These Orange Apricot Biscotti will last in the freezer for three months. Be sure you have a good container with a tight seal. Whenever I’m freezing cookies, I always double up on the seal action. Before I place the lid on, I always drape a sheet of plastic wrap on top.

16. Candied Ginger Biscotti

Candied Ginger Biscotti

For a holiday party, I’m attending this weekend, I made these Candied Ginger Biscotti to share. They were fun to make and I love how easy it is as a base recipe for other biscotti variations. In a bowl of your stand mixer (or with a hand mixer) combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Beat until blended (about 30 seconds). Gradually add the egg mixture and beat until a dough forms, adding ginger about halfway through. With floured hands divide the dough in half. On a lightly floured surface roll dough into a log about 10 inches long and 3 inches wide. Transfer log to the prepared baking sheet and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until firm to the touch. Note – logs will spread during baking. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack for about 10 minutes.

Dunk one of these sweet, nutty biscotti cookies in a hot drink, and tell me your day didn’t just get 10 times better! Maple walnut is a classic flavor combo. To get the best maple flavor, use maple extract. This stuff is strong and a little goes a long way. It’s perfect to use for a maple glaze like the one I call for on these maple bacon banana muffins.

14. Butter Pecan Biscotti

Butter Pecan Biscotti

One of my favorite things to have with my morning coffee is good, crunchy Italian biscotti! Specifically these brown butter pecan biscotti! These buttery biscotti are filled with toasted, buttered pecans and pair perfectly with a cinnamon latte for brunch! Biscotti is a long cookie that is twice-baked to make them super crisp and crunchy. That might seem a little complicated but they’re actually super easy to make! We simply shape the dough into logs and bake it. Then let the logs cool slightly, slice them, and then bake the slices a second time! Super easy!

12. Chocolate Chip Biscotti

Chocolate Chip Biscotti

I was in the mood for Mandel bread or biscotti and decided the best way to get some was to get in the kitchen and bake. One problem, I wasn’t sure which I wanted. One general description I liked was that Mandel bread is to the European Jews what biscotti is to the Italians. Hmmmmmm. Could it really be that basic? Some people will say that Mandel bread only needs to be baked once, whereas biscotti recipes, by definition, must bake twice. I don’t know if this is accurate because I have only seen Mandel bread recipes that require double baking. Either way, one thing is crystal clear…this Chocolate Chip Biscotti is delicious. Even if you want to call it Mandel bread!

10. Spiced Apple Cider Biscotti

Enjoy the flavors and aromas of fall with these Spiced Apple Cider Biscotti. Of course, you all know I love biscotti of any flavor! I decided to try making an apple cider flavor and boy, are they delicious. Not to mention the smell of this biscotti baking fills your home with fall scents! I wanted a strong apple cider flavor in this biscotti so I decided to boil the cider down to a concentrate. The boiled apple cider adds a perfect depth of apple flavor. You can purchase boiled apple cider or better yet just make it yourself. These Apple Cider Biscotti are delicious and different. If you enjoy biscotti, you need to give these a try! These Apple Cider Biscotti are a great addition to your holiday cookies, make a great food or hostess gift, or will make a perfect cookie for your cookie jar! Just because!

9. Chocolate Almond Biscotti

Chocolate Almond Biscotti

In some comforting way, biscotti is one of those foods that not only remind me of Christmas but especially, Christmas with my family. Crunchy and fragrant, biscotti has a way of making me feel loved and closer to home. “Biscotti” means “twice-baked”, but don’t be put off by its Italian name nor its seemingly tedious definition. While baking the dough twice is necessary for making biscotti, I’ve found that biscotti is really one of the most flexible and forgiving recipes one can possibly make. The best part? Munching on these chocolate and almond-filled biscotti with a cup of freshly brewed tea. Feels just like Christmas at home.

8. Eggnog Biscotti Cookies

Eggnog Biscotti Cookies

This is the season for an Eggnog Biscotti recipe! This crispy Italian cookie not only includes eggnog IN the actual biscotti but is also topped with an amazing eggnog glaze. Pair your homemade biscotti with a hot cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. Making biscotti recipes has become one of my favorite things. While there are desserts that are easier to make, biscotti is still relatively simple. They also look impressive, no matter if they are studded with fruit, dipped in chocolate, or drizzled with glaze. Another item you’ll need for this eggnog biscotti recipe is quality butter. I recommend using Land O’Lakes Butter, which has a short & simple ingredient list you’ll love: sweet cream and salt. It will not only make for great biscotti but superior results with all of your holiday baking.

7. Chocolate Toffee Biscotti

Chocolate Toffee Biscotti

Chocolate Toffee Biscotti are thin and crispy with sweet chocolate and toffee bits throughout, plus a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar on top. What makes these Chocolate Toffee Biscotti so good is the perfect balance of Heath Bar Crunch pieces (we bought this kind with milk chocolate) and small bits of dark chocolate nibs added to the batter. The dark chocolate perfectly compliments the sweetness of the toffee. Cinnamon is also added to the biscotti batter – another nice flavor combination with toffee and chocolate. And, cinnamon is also mixed with granulated sugar and sprinkled on top of the biscotti after it bakes the second time through.

6. Cinnamon Roll Biscotti

Cinnamon Roll Biscotti

To me, biscotti recipes have always been a fancy treat, a special kind of cookie best left to the pros. I would have never considered making it from scratch back in the day. But it was on my 2019 bucket list, so I did it. It was so easy, I laughed at myself for avoiding it for two years. It uses ingredients I’ll bet you already have in your pantry, so there’s no excuse for paying for overpriced, rock-hard cookies from the store. Perfect for cookie trays during the holidays, or just to have on hand for your morning tea. They are so simple – you’ll be making them all the time. This really is a blank slate recipe; awesome as-is, but ready for anything you want to add. Nuts, chocolate chips, citrus zest, dried fruit – create your family’s favorite today.

5. Brownie Biscotti

Brownie Biscotti

A fresh update to the typical chocolate biscotti recipe that you may have in your collection already, and the best part, it doesn’t take multiple flips and turns back in the oven to be made! This Brownie Biscotti is a simple take on a classic, and the updated flavors really pop at this time of year! I use chopped pecans in my recipe, but you can use any type of nut you prefer, and if you wanted to could even omit them altogether. You could even get really creative and use food coloring in your white chocolate drizzle to make a nice red or green drizzle instead! One key with this recipe is a good stand mixer (personally I LOVE my Kitchen Aid), it really mixes the “batter” type dough and thoroughly combines your ingredients so you don’t end up with a mouthful of cocoa powder!

4. Strawberry Pecan Biscotti Recipe

Strawberry Pecan Biscotti Recipe

Homemade biscotti is amazing! Especially this simple Strawberry Pecan Biscotti Recipe. It is one of a kind and full of flavor. Great for a cup of coffee and to give as gifts. These are the culmination of everything I love about food. A good cup of coffee, strawberries, chocolate, and baking. These were destined to be out of this world from the time I thought them up! After one bite you will know that this Strawberry Pecan Biscotti recipe does not disappoint! The ingredients are so simple: flour, sugar, eggs, oil, vanilla, pecans, and strawberries. There is nothing fake about these. Just pure awesomeness. These are perfect the way they are but if you drizzle some melted white chocolate over the top it turns them into the stuff dreams are made of.

3. Fruitcake Biscotti

Fruitcake Biscotti

This isn’t your average fruitcake recipe. Mix the homemade dough, double bake for a crispy texture, and serve. It really does have a bad reputation. The mass-produced version is loaded with ingredients, some questionable at best, artificial at worst, and it has so much sugar that your dentist would cringe if he or she only knew…It’s the butt of holiday jokes and hated by most people who are on the receiving end when gifted. But much like anything, the homemade version is so much better! But that’s another story….Instead, let’s focus on something most everyone loves: biscotti!

2. Snickerdoodle Biscotti

Snickerdoodle Biscotti

Cinnamon-spiced biscotti covered in a crunchy cinnamon-sugar coating. It’s just asking to be dunked in coffee! Classic snickerdoodles (and salted caramel stuffed! and chocolate chip ones!) are pretty popular here on the blog, and rightfully so. The combination of spicy cinnamon and sweet sugar grabs you by the taste buds and sucks you into its irresistibly sparkly coating. I mean, a cookie that sparkles? Heck yes– sign me up! If you’re currently thinking that making biscotti recipes are hard or intimidating, think again. I lay it all out in this funfetti biscotti post about exactly how to tackle biscotti. It’s not very difficult but requires a bit of hands-on commitment.

1. Crunchy Sourdough Biscotti

Crunchy Sourdough Biscotti

Do you have a sourdough starter that you are fed every day or every week? I do!  Every time I feed my starter, I try to find biscotti recipes that include the sourdough discard so I am not wasting all that flour.  So far, I have made rosemary sourdough crackers, peanut butter sourdough cookies, sourdough pancakes, double chocolate sourdough waffles, and most recently almond sourdough biscotti.  You can probably find a lot of sourdough recipes on crackers, cookies, and pancakes, but biscotti, not so much.  Plus the biscotti recipes I found typically use a 50% hydration sourdough starter, which means I have to convert my 100% hydration sourdough starter first to a 50% starter before I can make my biscotti.
