21 Amazing High Tea Recipes That You Will Love!

High tea (and it is high tea, not hi tea or hi-tea) is a reference to a meal that would be enjoyed by the working classes after a hard day in the factory. Many of the factories in the 19th century were situated in the Midlands and the North of England, and coming home the workers would be famished and would want to eat straight away. This post will give you some afternoon tea recipes or snack ideas and recipes to let you organize your own afternoon tea spread party ideas at home. It will also help you understand the difference between ‘high tea‘ and ‘afternoon tea‘, as there is, quite understandably, some confusion as to the meaning of both terms. Below I will link to some of my easy high tea recipes that will enable you to prepare your own English afternoon tea.

These Mini Lemon Blueberry Cheesecakes are super easy to make and only require a few steps. You need to refrigerate them for a few hours before you can enjoy them. They are a great dessert that you can make ahead of time or even freeze for when you need them. They’re made with a homemade graham cracker crust, a smooth and creamy lemon cheese filling, and a blueberry swirl. You can even skip the blueberry swirl and have a regular blueberry cheesecake or swap it out for your favorite berry. There are three parts to this mini lemon cheesecake: the blueberries that go on top, the filling, and the crust.

 Spicy Chickpea Avocado Cucumber Bites

Blackened Chickpea Avocado Cucumber Bites are a bite-sized summer appetizer or high tea recipe that’s so refreshing! You can use my blackened chickpea recipe or your favorite crispy pan-fried or roasted chickpeas. The rest of the appetizer is simply sliced cucumber, topped with creamy mashed avocado, drizzled with chipotle cream or chipotle sauce, and dusted with fresh herbs. I like to use parsley, basil, or chives.
